My name is Meg, and this is my life...
I'm 21 years old, with an intense passion for anything healthy, coffee, organizing, do it yourself projects, and finding my ultimate pathway of health. The purpose of creating this blog is to track my journey using the gluten free version of The Tone It Up Nutrition Plan, and share it with all who are interested.
Why I bought the TIU Nutrition Plan:
-In September 2012 I started getting absolutely horrible stomach aches. I had no idea why, I have always eaten pretty healthy, but it was all of a sudden that I found myself huddled in pain more often than not. After talking to my sister, she told me that allergies you have always had can give you symptoms as you get older. That's when I decided to test some things out on my own. For 2-3 weeks I cut out all gluten. YAYY! No more stomach aches, well almost. After those weeks I slowly brought a few gluten products back into my diet, back to bed I went with those horrible stomach aches. That's when I decided it needed to be cut out. Honestly, I didn't know where to start. I didn't know what products had gluten, much less know what gluten even was. I needed to start somewhere. After searching the web, I stumbled upon TIU. I saw that they offered a gluten free nutrition plan. I read reviews, I asked a few people who were personal trainers and nutritionists and they told me that they have nothing bad to say about it. I took the plunge and spent the 150 dollars, and let me tell you it was the best investment I have ever made. It wasn't just a nutrition plan, it was a lifestyle, a community, and a family. I am proud to say that I AM a TIU girl.
What I plan to do with this blog:
-I want to motivate the other TIU girls, and whoever else is reading this to drift away from diets, and sail away to lifestyles. As a women, I think it's par for the course to feel self-concsious at some point in your life. I will be the first to admit that I have gone through these stages MULTIPLE times. I always found the imperfections, and never the beauty. I also used tactics that were not-so-healthy and borderline dangerous. For instance, in high school I wouldn't eat at all during the day, partially because I didn't want to wake up 15 minutes earlier to pack a lunch and I didn't want to eat the school's crappy food, but then I would go to my sport's practice, go home and binge eat my kitchen. I also have gotten sucked into the vortex of foods that claimed to be 'low-cal' or 'low-fat'. I automatically assumed those to be healthy, but then I flipped over to the back of the container and realized there is absolutely nothing healthy about the ingredients.
My mindset started to change when I was around the age of 16. My mom began her journey to an all organic lifestyle. I learned through her, and her experiences. Now at 21, I try not to eat anything that is processed, and definitely eat all organic produce and meat. I threw away diets, and counting calories, and I began to live in a lifestyle that actually has made me feel healthier than ever. I feel energized, I rarely get stomach aches, and I am actually seeing healthy changes to my body. This could not excite me more! The TIU nutrition plan has honestly changed my life for the better. I get excited about exercising and healthy foods, and I love to share my passion for it with others around me.
I will admit, I am human and I think cheating every once in awhile helps me stay sane. I occasionally have a glass of wine, or go out to get frozen yogurt, but I don't do it daily. I encourage all of you to throw away what ever diet you are currently trying, and instead grab as many fruits and veggies as you want. Eat lean, clean, green, and colorful.
I promise you will NOT regret it.
